Why Family Involvement Matters
Families are often one of the most important parts of long-term recovery.
Addiction can change communication patterns, relationships and family roles in ways that are difficult to recognize while they are happening. Some family members become caretakers. Others become problem-solvers or protectors. Some withdraw emotionally in an effort to cope with the stress of the situation.
These responses are common and understandable.
The family program helps participants recognize these patterns while learning new tools that support both their loved one’s recovery and their own well-being.
When families have a better understanding of addiction and recovery, everyone is better equipped for what comes next.
Family Information Night
Black Bear Lodge offers a Family Information Night every Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm Eastern Time.
The program is offered virtually through Zoom and is available to family members and support systems of patients currently receiving treatment at Black Bear Lodge.
The curriculum follows a four-week rotation and participants may join at any point in the cycle.

Support For Families Matters Too
Family members often spend so much time focusing on their loved one’s recovery that they overlook their own needs.
The Black Bear Lodge Family Program encourages participants to focus not only on supporting the person in treatment, but also on their own health, boundaries and healing.
Recovery is rarely a process that involves only one person. Families deserve support, education and resources just as much as the individual receiving treatment.
